"The change in Mathematics is not so much in what students are learning but in how students are involved with mathematics as they are learning." ~ Alberta Learning
On Thursday we sent home the first of several information bulletins about Mathematics. This one focused on why mathematics instruction is different now than when we were children. If you have further questions, we invite you to come and speak to us about them.
As mentioned previously, we have a school-wide math challenge every Monday and Wednesday as part of the announcements. We invite families to try these challenges at home and talk to your children about how they tackled the problems. Beginning today we will share the challenges for the upcoming week, as well as sharing some of the great solutions students and teachers have chosen to share. These problems require many of the math processes shared last week and as Mrs. Emilsson pointed out, they lead to deep mathematical conversations.

Student-led conferences are this week - November 24 and 25. Your child will share their important learning as well as set learning goals for the next term. It is expected that all parents and students will attend these conferences. All teachers and administration have times available ~ https://webapps.cbe.ab.ca/MyAccount/Account/LogOn.
If your child works with a specialist teacher for Resource (Mrs. Billeck) or English Language Learning (Mrs. Bodley), you can also make an appointment to speak to that teacher, or with our Music specialist (Mrs. Villman) or Administration (Mrs. Wickland and Mrs. Ramsay).
