The past few week's Principal messages have focused on authors of books for children. With a long weekend coming up for students, a great opportunity exists to spend some time with your children, reading, storytelling or visiting a library. During our DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time recently, students had the opportunity to see the importance that everyone in the building places on reading. Perhaps your family can begin this at home as well by having your own DEAR time?
Today the series on favorite authors features Mr. Perron's favorite author. Next week's will be Mrs. Shihab's!
Learning to read does not come naturally to all children. Some seem to learn all by themselves as they are exposed to reading in the laps of their parents. For others, reading can be a challenge that takes a lot of work to understand. One very famous author of children's books focused on engaging young children in books in a fun way; through poetry created with sight and nonsense words. Theodor Seuss Geisel wrote under the name Dr. Seuss.
