Staff Appreciation DayThis week our staff was honoured when our School Council devoted a day to letting us know how much they appreciated our work. It was powerful to have such thought and caring put forth on our behalf. For a staff that cares as much about children as ours does, it means a lot to know that our families recognize and appreciate our efforts. We had staff with different lunchtimes and some away at field trips, so the festivities went on all day and one or more of our parents was there to be sure that we felt cared for. Thank you for remembering all of us and for making us all feel so special! Grade 5/6 Celebration of LearningThis week our grade 5/6 students shared their learning with the school. They shared images of their experiences at Tim Horton's Camp, and the learning they have been doing in their classrooms. They shared a wordless picture book called Journey and it inspired them to create a story using iBook. They were proud to share their learning with our school, including a dance that they created at camp. They also shared their inquiry that began with "The City of Embers". This led them through explorations of math, science, social studies and language arts and culminated in the creation of their own cardboard City of Embers, complete with circuits and lights.
