Reading should be fun and the best way to make sure that it is fun for our kids is to have fun ourselves. Sometimes that can happen because of the voices, sound effects and inflection that we add as we read, and sometimes the fun is in the text itself. You are your child's first and best teacher. If you love to read, and show them that reading is important and that you enjoy it, they will learn from your example. Let your child see you reading books, magazines and other text that you love. Your joy of reading will be infectious - children who love to read usually have parents who love to read. This website includes six tips to make reading fun - http://www.readbrightly.com/how-to-make-reading-fun-not-frustrating/. This site includes FIFTY! http://www.signupgenius.com/home/make-reading-fun.cfm.
